Terms of Service
Last updated: August 3, 2026
These terms govern your use of SmartFlavr. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.
The service
SmartFlavr is currently a private, invite-only beta. Access requires a valid invite code and a Google account. Because it's a beta, features may change, break, or be removed without notice, and we don't guarantee any particular level of uptime or data durability — though we do run regular backups.
Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use SmartFlavr.
- You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your Google account secure.
- One account per person. Don't create accounts to evade a suspension or ban.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Your content
You keep ownership of the recipes, photos, cookbooks, and everything else you create or upload ("your content"). By posting it, you give us a license to store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the app — for example, showing your public cookbook to people who visit it, or syncing a shared meal plan to a collaborator.
You're responsible for having the right to share what you post. When you import a recipe from a URL, that's for your own personal use and reference — you're responsible for respecting the original source's rights if you make it public or share it further.
Acceptable use
Don't use SmartFlavr to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Post spam, illegal content, or content you don't have the right to share.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, probe for vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with the service's security or availability.
- Use the AI features to generate content that violates these terms.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
AI-generated content
Recipe imports, ingredient-based suggestions, and other AI-assisted features are generated automatically and can be wrong — an extracted recipe might misread a quantity, and a suggested dish might not actually suit an allergy or dietary restriction you've entered. Always use your own judgment before cooking or eating something, especially around allergies, substitutions, and food safety. SmartFlavr is not a substitute for professional dietary or medical advice.
Subscriptions & billing
SmartFlavr offers optional paid plans (Pro and Premium) with higher AI usage limits, billed through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel anytime from your billing portal in Settings, and you'll keep access through the end of the period you already paid for. Fees already charged are generally non-refundable, but reach out if something went wrong — we'll take a look.
Termination
You can stop using SmartFlavr and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to the service or other users.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
SmartFlavr is provided "as is" during this beta period, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SmartFlavr and its operator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including anything related to a recipe, ingredient, or nutrition information you relied on.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of SmartFlavr will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Iowa.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves out of beta. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
